Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) is the electricity generation company of the Government of Andhra Pradesh state in India. It has an installed capacity of 7048.4 MW which makes it the third largest power generation company in India.
APGENCO came into existence on 28.12.1998 and commenced operations from 01.02.1999. It was formed as part of power sector reforms by the state government to unbundle the activities relating to Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Power. All the Generating Stations owned by erstwhile APSEB (Andhra Pradesh State Electricity Board) were transferred to the control of APGENCO.
