London, Jul 18: Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that his under fire striker Dimitar Berbatov can help to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.
Ferguson saw the Bulgarian striker score once and set up another goal to help his side start their pre-season tour with victory over Celtic.
United supporters blamed Berbatov for failing to perform consistently last season as the club conceded the title to Chelsea for the first time in four years.
“He got the man of the match award and he deserved that, no question. In the second half he produced some fantastic moments and it underlines the one great factor, that class he has. You cannot take that away from him,” News of the World quoted Ferguson, as saying.
“No matter how many people criticise him, it never comes from inside our camp. We see that class. We know we’ve got the right player. There were some fantastic moments from him against Celtic.
“His performance was excellent and what I was pleased about was, among the strikers we have with us at the moment, there is all manner of different combinations. I thought he and Mame Diouf were very good in the first half. They did very well together,” he said.
“Diouf has got different talents to Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck and he penetrates well. He is quick and aggressive, he is an interesting player, and I think that suited Berbatov,” added Ferguson. (ANI)
