Aamir Khan in Leh-land | Aamir stuck clouds in Plane

Aamir Khan flew in Ladakh on Tuesday to assess the damage to the Druk White Lotus School caused by the recent floods in the region. The institution had come into the limelight after it was shown as his character Rancho’s school in 3 Idiots. The actor on Tuesday boarded a Jet Airways flight, which took off from Delhi around 6.30 am and was scheduled to land at 7.30 am at the Leh airport.

The actor left Mumbai on Monday for New Delhi from where he took an early morning Tuesday flight to Leh. Inclement weather forced the flight to hover in the skies for quite a while till landing clearance was given. Slush and boulders have filled up the interiors of the school even though the main stone building remains intact. The floods ravaged the interiors and among the stuff washed away was the book.

26/11 case: Bombay HC to take up Kasab”s hearing today

Mumbai, Aug 2 (ANI): The petition to confirm the capital punishment for Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the 26/11 attack will be presented before the Bombay High Court today.

This comes two months after Kasab was convicted and given the death sentence by a special court in Mumbai.

Earlier, Kasab has filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court challenging the verdict and sought a legal aid panel to fight his case.

It has been reported that Kasab filed the appeal through the jail authorities and his plea for a lawyer has been forwarded to the High Court Legal Services Committee (HCLSC).

Earlier on May 6, Kasab”s defence lawyer K. P. Pawar said the decision about appealing to the High Court against the death sentence would be taken after consultations with the convict.

A Mumbai Special Court on May 6 sentenced Kasab to death on four counts.
Judge M L Tahiliyani awarded death sentence for Kasab on-waging war against India, murder, conspiracy to murder, and participating in an act of terror under Unlawful Activity Prevention Act (UAPA).
Judge Tahaliyani felt that Kasab”s crime fell under the judicial definition of ””rarest of rare””.
Kasab, who is the 52nd prisoner on death row in India, was also awarded life term on five other counts. (ANI)
