Prime Minister Julia Gillard has told the public that “every vote matters” as polls point to a photo finish in Saturday’s election.“This is a tough, close contest right around the country, every vote matters,” she told the Nine Network on Saturday morning.Despite a gruelling five-week campaign, Ms Gillard said “physically I’m feeling good, I’ve enjoyed the campaign”.

Have left it rather late, but how many people in Wellington would be keen to watch the aussie election results in a bar somewhere? Polls close at 6pm, which is 8 pm NZT. So starting say 7.30 pm? Polling will continue till 6pm and counting will start immediately after polling. But it will take time to announce the results.

To let those who will not be able to vote on Election Day limited number of polling booths were made open from past three weeks. In Australia it is mandatory to vote hence, some people are allowed to vote if they are unable to vote on Election Day.
